It is a rather tragic and moving love story between two mature adults, their personal story and their relationship with close friends by their side. The action sequences during the sailing adventure are mesmeric, while the ending is both inevitable and surprising.

Finished!!! Definitely plan to read again. I laughed, cried, got a little angry, felt sad and thoroughly enjoyed a wonderfully written book. Hubby read it and gave a rave review, too. A different look at life in the final years. A MUST READ for anyone over 50, anyone with a terminal illness or anyone with a friend or family member in those categories. I hope I can be as strong and delightful as the characters in this book!!! They are totally believable and, in fact, I think I know some of them. Although my schedule FORCED me to put the book down (had it on my iPhone, so I even read while waiting for a train to pass), I managed to sneak times to read at least a couple of pages before going back to the grind and stayed up WAY past my bedtime to finish the last 14% or so - could NOT put it down. All that said, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you read it yourself so that you can rave about it as I have.Product details

It was fictional, but seemed so real. Would love to read more books written by Steven N. Gann.
I can honestly say that I really enjoyed this book. Usually I read mysteries only but this has it all---- suspense, love, compassion, tears and good smiles. Who could ask for more when looking to curl up on the couch and get lost in a fantasy? I didn't want it to end so quickly, sure hope Mr. Gann continues his writing, I'll be looking forward to his next publication.
What can I say that hasn't already been said by other reviewers? The author has a very entertaining and engaging writing style that made it hard to put the book down. I will be keeping a eye out for more books written by Steven N. Gann.
This the first book by author Steven Gann, and I hope more may follow. The main character is one Mark Stevens, who is faced with a monumental decision; literally, a life-or-death decision. Gann tells an excellent story of a man conflicted on several levels. The passages of Mark's psychological turmoil are well thought-out, honest, and true to life. I was highly impressed by the nuances of thought and feelings that were expressed by the protagonist. But the novel is not just about thoughts and feelings. The action sequences are riveting, and you will feel the ocean as the sailboat pitches and rolls! There is also a bad guy, a man of unspeakable evil, who enters Mark's life. Their final confrontation is depicted in a piece of writing that shows all the author's skills. A ripping yarn, Steven Gann!
A great read, thought provoking & engaging. Steve Gann shares his gift of humor, knowledge of sailing & love of adventure, in this his first book. Bravo! A great story teller he is.
Just finished reading this first novel from Mr. Gann and I was very impressed with his story-telling. The ending was a big surprise. Would love to read more from this author.
This original plot develops with a lot of tension. How the protagonist chooses to live his ending days with a terminal illness kept me engaged and I won't soon forget it. Although this is a first book by Mr. Ganns it really resonated with me and I wish he would write another.
